Mad Love

Today I should be writing about something awfully important. But I’m not. I tried you know. But I’ve just been sitting here in a standoff with my computer screen and the two of us (the computer and I) decided it’s best if today I just drink coffee and write something unimportant. I hope you don’t mind. If you do, well, don’t read it genius. So, today, I’m going to just tell you that I have mad love for a few things in life. Isn’t it funny how we all have our likes and dislikes and how our loves and hates make us each the unique people that we are? fascinating :] Here are a few of the things that make me who I am, for better or for worse. I wrote them down in the order they came to me so now you see how cluttered and befuddled my brain is:

Potatoes. coffee. beige. Thoreau. scarves. boots. leather bags. Fossil. Harrison Ford. mocha. Dunkin’ Donuts. books. tea. blogging. brothers. words. nature. birds. Faith. pasta. architecture. paper. Darren. Rachel T. laughter. letters. Ashley B. adventure. dreams. flowers. Quick Trip. Missouri. dirt roads. sweeping plains. moody oceans. the woods. Jean Webster. Daddy-Long-Legs book. Boston. cannoli. Italy. travel. walking. poppies. feta. art. brown gravy. french fries. dresses. ruffles. hugs. warm blankets. fireplaces. the smell of smoke. birch trees. fall. pumpkin spice lattes. black nail polish. camping. flip-flops. green chilies. Anthropologie. OneRebublic. barns. the country. Gilly Hicks. journals. maps. sci-fi. sweaters. jeans. ink. Relevant Magazine. The National Geographic. Prison Break. Little Women. silence. wood floors. colonial houses. Massachusetts. bookstores. cafes. Chipotle. trees. fire flies. flying. clean sheets. American Eagle. home. Pontiac. America. cello. navy. sleep. writing. typing. Cracker Barrel. a clean house. nephews & nieces. pictures. sarcasm. poetry. warm clothes. bacon. tree houses. WordPress. #2 pencils. decorating. creating. honesty. surprises. school. birds singing. fire. black eye liner. rain. seltzer. Arnold Palmers. cheese. olive oil. bread. being left-handed. 7. Twilight. Shakespeare. Hugh Jackman. archaeology. typewriters. vintage. Abercrombie & Fitch. mud. Country Living. The Office. blush pink. canvases. psychology books. home. feathers. gray. Xbox. pie. you. dandelions. red woods. tire swings. typography.

Unfortunately, potatoes outranked both my husband and my faith but at least I’m honest :]

What makes you you?

LOL! Well, keep in mind that God also loves potatoes very much. Especially with bacon. That’s what I’ve heard, anyway.

If I made a list like that, I’d be writing this comment for a while! Er, it would be less time consuming to read a few posts on my blog to get the gist. XD

  2. Great list! Many of mine are on your list and I would add: the smell of honeysuckles, a lawn mower and/or chainsaw in the distance as I’m waking up on a Saturday morning, a flyover while singing the national anthem, Yankee candles, school supplies even though I’m not in school, 1/2 price milkshakes after 8:00 at Sonic, a clean house when I return from a trip, sweet tea on my back deck, Savannah GA, bagpipes, and playoff games for any professional sport – these are a few of my favorite things…..thanks for making me take a moment to reflect and smile 🙂

    • Love your list! I grew up on Sonic and have been missing it ever since I moved to New England. I once drove with two friends through a blizzard just to get dinner at Sonic and the the trip ended up taking hours with the bad weather…but it was worth it. We just got our first Sonic in this area and the husband and I waited in line for two hours to get dinner there on opening night. I guess I should add Sonic to my list–thanks for reminding me of something I love so much! :]

  3. I am so pleased to know I’m not the only one to sit at my computer, fingers poised, gazing at a blank screen. But, potatoes? Really? Well, there is that film, “Faith Like Potatoes”. Actually, my wife has a killer receipe for mashed potatoes. I too enjoyed your post. Keep up the good work. By the way, how are you doing with your bike?

    • I love potatoes in every form–always have :] My bike and I aren’t friends right now. I guess I didn’t know what “1 speed” meant and it’s a killer getting it up the hills around here–but I’m trying :] Thanks for asking!

I love this post and wanted to share it with others. For some reason it spoke to me with it’s simplicity and honesty. I have battles with my computer on writing. I love the list at the end, it reminds me of my brain and my usual train of thought, well done, Outside Air. Enjoy reading this.

  5. Potatoes… before Dunkin’ Donuts??? I have to say, this is one of the most original posts I have read in some time… AND, I did read your entire list…. and some, like ‘prison break’ raise a few questions. But what troubled me most, was that I could not find ‘tedstrutz’ anywhere in the list! I’m sure that was only an oversight, that will be corrected at your earliest opportunity.

  6. This is a great post, I may reblog this if you don’t mind, it is just classic and I have wondered if the york peppermint patty creamer was any good, didn’t want to buy a whole thing if it wasn’t. Your faith shines through all your work and although it wasn’t on the top of your list I know it is in the top of your heart. Love, love, love this post, thanks for sharing, DAF
