Stop the Presses

Big news in the world of fried chicken everybody: Chick-Fil-A has come to town. That’s right, you heard me, Chick-Fil-A and all its glorious golden fried chickeness has landed just minutes from me and my life is finally, officially, complete. There are exactly two Chick-Fil-A’s in the great state of Massachusetts {which is clearly an atrocity} and one of them, as of today, is near me…be still my soul.

Also, there are fries…crisp heavenly little bites of all that is good in the world.

And there is sweet tea. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find a proper cup of sweet tea in New England? Hard my friends.

And there are biscuits. Biscuits! Flaky, buttery biscuits drizzled with honey…I can’t even take it…my mind is blown.

The baby is pretty exited too. Actually, he won’t stop talking about this glorious manna with which he is now being fed and has humbly asked that I please feed him fried chicken every day; I wanting to be a good mother see no other way forward. I like Martin Luther must plant my feet and say, “Here I stand; I can do no other.” I’m almost certain Martin Luther liked sweet tea and fried chicken. It just makes sense, you know?

  1. You know, I usually love your posts, but, today, being Sunday and reading this I am not sure now… NOW, I want a chick fil a sandwich and they are closed…. hmmm… I know, I guess I have to wait until tomorrow. Our ladies at church used to have a book club that met at a local chik fil a… it was heaven… oh yeh, the books were interesting too! 😉

    • Chick-Fil-A {and fried chicken in general} are mostly only found in the south here in the US so I was very excited when they decided to put one in just a few minutes from where I work :] I hope you get to try it someday :]

      • Bigotry—no, I am never okay with bigotry. Religious freedom, freedom of speech, a free market economy, love and respect for all people including those with whom I disagree {shown by not calling people bigots or using any other form of cheap hate language}, and eating excellent fried chicken…these are the things I’m okay with.

        • The last time I checked the word “Bigotry” wasn’t considered “cheap hate language”. I would consider it an accurate way to describe intolerance of a human being’s civil liberties.

          • I just think it’s ironic that in trying to stand up for “human being’s civil liberties” you resort to calling anyone who disagrees with your perspective a bigot. I believe in treating all people with love and respect. I also believe in religious freedom. If I believed Chick-Fil-A were discriminating or disrespecting people’s human rights, I wouldn’t eat there. The owner of Chick-Fil-A believes certain things and I still eat there. The owner of Chipotle across the street believes certain things and I eat there as well. While the two founders have drastically different beliefs, I feel both have balanced their values and their businesses well and I enjoy giving my business to both. I do not expect to change your mind and you will not likely change mine either and I do not want this blog to be a place where people come to fight. Though we disagree with each other, I hope we can do so respectfully. All the best to you. –Kari

  2. Well, I now know where I am going for lunch today. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and Chick-fil-A was foreign to us until last year. Now one is near work and yep, I agree with everything you say.
Thanks for the inspiration today – Michael
